
All workers that use or may come in contact with sources of ionizing radiation in the course of their work need radiation safety training. Monserco has developed a series of training programs tailored to our clients needs. These training programs meet the CNSC requirements and include:

May 26th to May 28th (Applications must be in before 12th May 2010)
September 28th to September 30th (Session cancelled)

Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) Training for Sealed Source Users
Monserco’s 3-day RSO training course for industrial gauge users was developed by experienced and qualified radiation safety professionals with a combined experience of over 50 years in the nuclear industry. This training is designed to provide Radiation Safety Officers with the foundational, legal and practical information enabling him or her to conduct their job professionally and effectively.

§ Exposure control concepts
§ Radiation detection and instrumentation
§ Practical applications and occupational exposure control
§ Regulations and radiation safety
§ Radiation safety management

What participants will gain:
§ The RSO will be given technical and legal information which applies to the specific use of radiation devices at their site and will therefore be empowered to conduct all communications with staff and the CNSC regarding their devices.
§ The RSO will be equipped with methods to assess the type and level of radiation exposure associated with their radiation device(s) and the risks associated with typical radiation exposures.
§ The RSO will be provided with information on the development and implementation of a radiation safety program and will therefore be empowered to confidently manage the radiation safety program at their facility.
§ The RSO will receive a personal copy of the Radiation Safety Officer Student Manual as well as a Regulatory Manual containing all applicable regulatory material related to their radiation device(s).
§ The RSO will gain practical experience using detection equipment and radioactive sources in a controlled teaching environment.
§ The RSO will receive a certificate stating that the participant has successfully completed the RSO training upon completing the course and passing the course test.
What to do bring:
Monserco Limited will provide visual aids, equipment and materials for the course presentation; however, participants are requested to bring the following items with them if possible:
§ Any radiation detection equipment used at their site
§ A copy of their CNSC license
§ Their personal radiation dosimeter (i.e. a TLD badge if one is used)
§ A copy of the company’s radiation safety procedures or the radiation safety manual used at their site
